CALIFORNIA CLASSIC, San Mateo, CA
The homeowners wanted to merge their Southern California laid-back coastal roots with their more formal Bay Area home and neighborhood. Additionally, the existing layout had flow issued that needed to be addressed. The resulting design created a seamless indoor-outdoor connection with the reconfigured backyard pool area and light-infused interior. Existing formal and symmetrical elements like cased openings were enlarged and shifted to make the house feel open and inviting.
